Sermatec Drives the Clean Transition in Eastern Europe with a 430+ MWh Bulgaria Agreement

Shanghai Sermatec Energy Technology Co., Ltd. announces the securing of a 430+ MWh energy storage procurement project in Bulgaria, marking a significant milestone in the European market. This achievement highlights the growing importance of Chinese energy storage technology in transforming the green energy landscape across Eastern Europe, from Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast to the continent’s energy core, and underscores China’s leadership in system-level solutions driving Europe’s energy transition.

Technology-Enabled Returns: Unlocking Higher Investment Value

Sermatec will provide an integrated, full-lifecycle energy storage system as a key player in this historic initiative. To shorten project payback periods and increase overall investment returns, the system takes advantage of a substantial time-of-use pricing arbitrage by charging during off-peak hours to absorb inexpensive electricity and discharging during peak periods to release stored energy back to the grid.

Sermatec has improved its technology by using a two-part system that combines a flexible design with long-lasting battery technology and careful management of when to charge and discharge, ensuring it can make money over the long run. This approach ensures that the system can keep running smoothly even in tough situations, creating a solid foundation for effective energy trading and allowing for consistent financial benefits throughout its lifetime.

The project is slated to be completed by the end of December 2025, with grid connection and operation anticipated by March 2026. It was formally inaugurated in August 2025. Sermatec will support Bulgaria’s long-term energy transition goals by offering vital technical assistance and continuous O&M services to help the country create a new energy system that is safer, more stable, and sustainable.

Strategic Breakthrough: Showcasing Sermatec’s Integrated Competitiveness

The Bulgaria project’s successful signing demonstrates Sermatec’s increasing worldwide competitiveness in terms of market deployment, technical prowess, and delivery performance:

    • Global Footprint: Sermatec has established its European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, and built a 3 GWh manufacturing base in Málaga, Spain, forming a complete value chain from R&D and manufacturing to delivery and service.
    • Cost-Optimized Solutions: Leveraging advanced energy storage technologies and global project experience, Sermatec offers solutions with longer cycle life, higher system efficiency, and lower O&M costs—perfectly aligned with overseas clients’ focus on long-term value and ROI.
    • Reliable Quality & Delivery: With industry-leading intelligent manufacturing and robust delivery capabilities, Sermatec has been recognized as a BloombergNEF Tier 1 global energy storage system provider for seven consecutive quarters.

Eastern wisdom is powering a global transformation, as Chinese technology bridges civilizations.

In addition to giving Eastern Europe’s clean energy transition fresh impetus, this alliance fortifies the framework of Sino-European green cooperation. Chinese businesses like Sermatec, with their superior system-level solutions, are becoming essential players in forming a sustainable global energy future as Europe speeds up its energy transformation.
