Shandong HiTHIUM has commenced the production rollout of its Heze Base, described by the company as the world’s first integrated industrial park dedicated exclusively to long-duration energy storage (LDES). The Production Rollout Ceremony was held on August 7 in Heze Luxi New Area, marking a strategic milestone in HiTHIUM’s expansion of integrated LDES manufacturing and its transition towards large-scale global delivery.
The Heze Base has been purpose-built as an intelligent manufacturing hub for LDES and is positioned by HiTHIUM as a key component of its global integrated industrial strategy. The company said the production rollout represents a new phase focused on scalable manufacturing, market-oriented delivery and ecosystem development.
RMB 13 Billion Investment Across 80 Hectares
The Shandong Heze project spans a planned area of approximately 80 hectares, with total investment exceeding RMB 13 billion across the entire industrial chain.
The project has been designated as a key national private investment initiative and a flagship project supporting the development of Shandong Province’s new energy system.
Rather than focusing only on battery-cell manufacturing, the industrial park has been designed around a whole-industry-chain approach. Its operations encompass LFP battery cell manufacturing, module and system integration, new material production and upstream raw material processing, creating an integrated pathway from materials to cells and energy storage systems.
HiTHIUM Targets Three Areas of Leadership
Wang Pengcheng, Co-founder and CEO of HiTHIUM and Chairman of Shandong HiTHIUM, stated:
“The production rollout marks a new phase for the Heze Base in scalable manufacturing, market-oriented delivery, and ecosystem development. Building on this new foundation, HiTHIUM will continue to advance our ‘three pillars of leadership’:
Industrial leadership – building a national benchmark industrial cluster for LDES. With the Heze LDES integrated industrial park as the ‘core engine’, HiTHIUM will gather upstream and downstream partners to cover the full ‘generation-transmission-distribution-consumption’ application ecosystem.
Product leadership – defining full-scenario LDES solutions. HiTHIUM has taken the lead in defining and deploying LDES solutions. Leveraging the Base’s scaled capacity, HiTHIUM will fully unleash the manufacturing potential of thousand-ampere-hour large-capacity products, ushering the global lithium-based LDES industry into an era of large-scale delivery.
Production efficiency leadership – building global competitiveness through integrated intelligent manufacturing. Fully equipped with independently developed fifth-generation intelligent manufacturing lines, the Base enables end-to-end synergistic integration across core materials, cell manufacturing, system integration, and global delivery, ensuring our ability to deliver large-scale, high-efficiency, and high-quality products to markets worldwide.”
Fifth-Generation Manufacturing Lines
The Heze Base’s intelligent manufacturing system covers the production chain from raw materials through to prefabricated container delivery.
According to HiTHIUM, its fifth-generation production lines are the industry’s first to exceed 15 GWh in single-line capacity. Compared with the previous generation, the company says the new production lines deliver:
- 50% reduction in floor space per GWh
- 58% reduction in production manpower
- 13% reduction in manufacturing energy consumption
- 200% improvement in efficiency
The facility also has an automation rate exceeding 95%, while more than 1,000 quality-control checkpoints are supported by AI-powered visual inspection.
These capabilities are designed to support lower-cost operations, faster and more efficient delivery, and consistent product quality as HiTHIUM scales its LDES manufacturing.
A New Manufacturing Model for LDES
The Heze Base represents more than an expansion in production capacity. Its integrated structure brings together materials, battery cells, modules, systems and delivery within a single industrial ecosystem.
For the rapidly developing LDES market, such integration could become increasingly important as developers seek storage technologies capable of supporting renewable power beyond short-duration applications. HiTHIUM’s production rollout therefore marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to move LDES from technology development towards large-scale manufacturing and global deployment.
With its combination of large-capacity production lines, high automation, integrated manufacturing and system-level delivery capabilities, the Heze Base is positioned by Shandong HiTHIUM as the foundation for its next phase of international LDES expansion.
The Heze LDES Base positions Shandong HiTHIUM for the next phase of LDES deployment. With integrated manufacturing, high-capacity production lines and advanced automation, the facility is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to deliver scalable storage solutions across global renewable energy markets.
