SolarEdge Technologies has launched a new residential solar and storage solution called Nexis, combining a configurable hybrid inverter with a modular high-voltage battery. The company said the system is designed to “simplify product selection and installation while increasing charging and discharging performance.”
Flexible Multi-Range Inverter Design
The Nexis inverter features what the company describes as a “multi-range concept,” allowing a single device to cover multiple power classes instead of requiring different models. The AC nominal output can be adjusted in six steps from 8 kW to 20 kW.
The system supports up to 200% DC oversizing and uses silicon carbide power electronics. According to the company, it delivers a European weighted efficiency ranging from 98.4% to 98.75%.
The inverter is fanless and operates at noise levels below 40 decibels. It is rated IP65 for outdoor installation and can function in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C.
Backup Power and Performance Features
A key feature of the Nexis system is its integrated backup capability. The inverter can provide up to 20 kW of three-phase backup power at 230 V or 400 V. The company stated that “switchover time in the event of a grid outage is less than 50 milliseconds,” ensuring minimal disruption.
Modular Battery with Scalable Capacity
Alongside the inverter, SolarEdge introduced a new residential battery specifically developed for Nexis. The battery is designed for both single-phase and three-phase systems, as well as AC- and DC-coupled applications.
Each battery module offers 4.9 kWh of capacity. A single stack can be expanded up to 20 kWh, while parallel operation allows total system capacity of up to 78 kWh.
The company said the new battery “significantly increases charging and discharging power compared with previous systems,” with each stack delivering up to 14 kW, compared to around 5 kW earlier. It also plans to increase this capacity to 28 kW by the third quarter of 2026.
Advanced Efficiency and Smart Architecture
Each battery module includes its own DC-DC converter, enabling monitoring and optimisation at the module level, along with easier replacement and future expansion. SolarEdge noted that this design “can improve efficiency by up to 30% under partial-load operation.”
The battery is IP65-rated, comes with a 10-year warranty, and can withstand flooding for up to 72 hours in water depths of up to 37 cm.
Simplified Installation and Smart Integration
SolarEdge has also focused on simplifying installation. The inverter can be commissioned without opening the enclosure, with all communication ports accessible externally. Additional features include an integrated antenna and simplified AC connections.
The system supports integration with heat pumps using the EEBus standard. Existing compatibility includes Vaillant, with planned integrations for Nibe, Bosch, Buderus, and Wolf.
Device pairing and system monitoring are managed through the SolarEdge Go app, allowing users to track performance and energy usage efficiently.
