Sorigin RE Services has secured its first standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan, with a total capacity of 250 MW / 500 MWh. The project has been awarded by one of India’s leading independent power producers, marking a significant milestone in the company’s clean energy journey.
The development is a strategic move by Sorigin RE Services to get into large-scale energy storage solutions, which are an important part of making India’s renewable energy infrastructure stronger.
Dual-site installations to enhance grid efficiency
There will be two installations of 125 MW and 250 MWh each in Giral and Suratgarh, Rajasthan. These sites were chosen to help with important grid functions like stability, managing peak demand, and better integrating renewable energy sources.
With increasing renewable penetration, energy storage systems like BESS are becoming essential to balance supply and demand, ensuring consistent power availability even during fluctuations in solar and wind generation.
Supporting India’s renewable energy and climate goals
Sorigin RE Services wants to provide complete Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) solutions for battery storage infrastructure through this project. The company said that the project is important on a larger scale because it fits with the country’s clean energy goals.
“Through end-to-end EPC solutions for BESS, we are enabling reliable, resilient, and flexible power systems that support India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and its Net Zero 2070 vision.”
Strengthening the future of energy storage
This milestone shows how important battery storage technologies are becoming as India moves toward a more sustainable energy future. As the amount of renewable energy grows, projects like this one will be very important for keeping the grid reliable and flexible.
The Rajasthan BESS project not only reinforces Sorigin RE Services’ capabilities in delivering advanced energy solutions but also highlights the increasing role of private sector participation in accelerating the country’s clean energy transition.
