In an effort to speed up the development and rollout of next-generation electric vehicles (EVs) powered by Factorial’s solid-state battery technology, Stellantis N.V. and Factorial Inc. have announced a major step in their collaboration. This endeavor expands upon Stellantis’s 2021 investment of $75 million in Factorial.

By 2026, Stellantis plans to launch a demonstration fleet of brand-new Dodge Charger Daytona vehicles equipped with Factorial’s solid-state batteries in order to commercialize this ground-breaking technology. With the help of the demonstration fleet, Factorial’s technology will be verified and its performance evaluated in actual driving scenarios.

Stellantis will receive cells from Factorial which utilizes its own FEST® solid-state battery technology, which has an energy density of more than 390 Wh/kg. The FEST® technology is perfect for next-generation EVs because it has several advantages over conventional lithium-ion batteries, such as a higher energy density, lighter weight, better performance, and the possibility for future vehicle cost reductions.

With an emphasis on high-volume electric SUVs and performance cars, Stellantis has selected the STLA Large multi-energy platform for this cutting-edge technology. The STLA Large platform, which is a crucial component of Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, supports up to two million vehicles worldwide and features brands like Jeep®, Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati. It is ideal for this innovative battery technology.

“This demonstration fleet marks a significant turning point in our collaboration with Factorial,” stated Ned Curic, Chief Engineering and Technology Officer of Stellantis. “We are confirming Factorial’s potential to improve our electric vehicle lineup by incorporating their cutting-edge battery solution into the STLA Large platform, guaranteeing that customers will experience enhanced performance, longer driving ranges, and quicker charging times in the years to come.”
