Finland 60MWh BESS Project with Sungrow Solution

This Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project is located less than 100 km south of the Arctic Circle and is made up of 26 Sungrow PowerTitan battery containers. With a power output of 30MW and a storage capacity of 60MWh, this installation will play a vital role in stabilizing the local grid as renewable energy sources like wind and solar are increasingly integrated.

The 26 Sungrow PowerTitan battery containers that make up this Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility are situated less than 100 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle. As renewable energy sources like wind and solar are increasingly integrated, this plant, which has a 30MW power output and a 60MWh storage capacity, will be crucial in stabilizing the local grid.

A liquid-cooled BESS made for utility-scale applications is Sungrow’s PowerTitan. Under harsh weather circumstances, the battery system provides incredibly high reliability and efficiency, guaranteeing the resilience of Finland’s renewable energy grid. The 20-foot container in which the BESS is constructed. The batteries can be sent pre-assembled in shipping containers thanks to the small and effective setup, which also makes installation quick and simple. You may install the batteries back-to-back without compromising performance. Long lifespan and little maintenance are guaranteed by the robust and safe lithium iron phosphate batteries with liquid circulation cooling. In difficult situations, reduced working hours, safety, and increased efficiency are particularly advantageous.

Hannu Koivusalo, Chairman of AmpTank, stated, “There were two main reasons why we selected Sungrow. The first was technical reliability. Sungrow’s technology convinced us that it would perform reliably under all conditions. The second key factor was long-term reliability, specifically maintenance, servicing, and related support, where Sungrow offered us a very competitive package.”

Henry Särkisilta, Key Account Manager at Sungrow Finland: “It has been a pleasure to be part of delivering one of the world’s northernmost battery power plants in collaboration with FRV AmpTank. Our products are designed to operate in demanding conditions, ensuring stability and efficiency for Finland’s renewable energy grid and our customers. At the same time, our team of experts is fully dedicated to supporting our partners’ efforts towards our common path towards a sustainable future.”

The Simo BESS demonstrates the potential of integrating intelligent storage solutions with renewable energy sources to build a cleaner and more robust grid, which is in line with Sungrow’s “Clean power for all” vision as Finland transitions to a greener energy environment.
