Tata Power and VECV Partner to Drive Commercial EV Adoption in India

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to advance the adoption of electric commercial vehicles across India. This collaboration is expected to significantly boost the rollout of the Eicher Pro X series of small electric commercial vehicles, along with electric buses and other models from VECV’s EV lineup.

Strengthening EV Integration in Commercial Transport

As part of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Tata Power will utilize its extensive EZ Charge network and experience in developing customized EV charging infrastructure. VECV, on the other hand, will bring in its strong expertise in energy efficiency and fleet management. Together, the two companies aim to deliver end-to-end solutions for truck and bus operators, facilitating a smoother transition to electric mobility.

The collaboration seeks to address major hurdles in commercial EV adoption, such as range anxiety, lack of sufficient charging infrastructure, and high operational costs. Through this joint effort, Tata Power and VECV will engage with Eicher Trucks and Buses customers to promote the use of zero-emission commercial vehicles across the country’s logistics and transportation sectors.

Tata Power’s Expanding EV Charging Network

Tata Power has established one of India’s most extensive EV charging networks under its EZ Charge brand, including:

    • Over 1.5 lakh home chargers
    • More than 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging stations
    • 1,200+ electric bus charging points
    • Presence in over 630 cities and towns

With a customer base exceeding 4 lakh, Tata Power’s charging infrastructure is strategically located at key points such as highways, malls, hotels, hospitals, offices, depots, and residential complexes, catering to both private and commercial EV users.

Driving a Sustainable Commercial Mobility Future

This partnership with VECV reflects Tata Power’s commitment to building a strong EV charging ecosystem that supports not only passenger vehicles but also electric trucks and buses. By combining Tata Power’s infrastructure capabilities with VECV’s innovation in vehicle design, the initiative is set to reshape India’s commercial mobility landscape.

“Our partnership with VECV is a milestone in accelerating the transition of India’s commercial fleet towards clean and sustainable mobility. With the Eicher Pro X range and advanced charging infrastructure, we aim to make electric trucking more accessible and efficient for operators,” stated a Tata Power spokesperson.

By merging charging solutions with next-generation electric vehicles, Tata Power and VECV are working together to establish a green, cost-effective, and sustainable commercial transport ecosystem in alignment with India’s environmental and clean mobility objectives.
