Terra Charge is set to launch a DC kW EV charger, TAKA, to support four-wheeler vehicles aiming to cater to the growing demand for fast charging solutions in the Indian EV market and support the adoption rate among consumers.

Launching on August 1, 2024, Terra Charge plans to set up 100 TAKA units across North India, by the end of this year to make efficient EV charging infrastructure accessible in the region. Through this new charger, the company aims to address issues common to the fast-charging segment such as application problems, charging and payment glitches, and inadequate after-sales support, and help new CPOs expand their businesses.

Akihiro Ueda, CEO of Terra Charge India, said, “Since the 3.3kW chargers KIWAMI and TAKUMI launched in April 2024, we have been working on the commercialization of quick chargers to meet the growing needs of our customers.

Our new 30kW quick charger TAKA has been developed in-house to guarantee quality and reduce investment costs by 20-30%. Terra Charge is offering a Japanese quality product at a competitive price point, which gives our charger an edge over others. We expect TAKA to support the growing demand for quick-charging infrastructure.

We also believe that when purchased with our software, charging point operators can begin their recharging business right away. With this latest launch, Terra Charge makes notable advancements toward our ultimate mission of ‘Energy for all people and EVs.”

The company’s in-house charger comes with a competitive starting price of 420,000 INR and when purchased along with Terra Charge’s software, it can enable new CPOs to start their charging business immediately. The charger’s IP54 protection vouches for its durability against harsh weather while its communication features OCPP1.6J/GSM-4G /WiFi are equipped to offer seamless connectivity to users.

The electric four-wheeler charger is also powered with IOT support to ensure efficient charging management. Terra Charge’s Japanese R&D team was closely involved in the production process and the chargers were manufactured entirely in India to support the nation’s spirit of the ‘Make in India’ drive. Terra Charge, a subsidiary of the Japanese EV manufacturing corporation, Terra Motors, plans to develop more charging products and services that take into account the unique requirements of the Indian EV market and can help support the vision of sustainable mobility.
