Tesla Launches First In-Mall Charging Station in Navi Mumbai, Expands India Network

Tesla has inaugurated its first in-mall EV charging station in India at Nexus Seawoods mall in Navi Mumbai, marking a significant step in expanding its charging infrastructure in the country. The new facility, located in the B1 parking level, is part of Tesla’s strategy to integrate charging solutions into high-traffic urban locations such as malls and commercial hubs.

Advanced Charging Infrastructure at Nexus Seawoods

The charging station features a total of eight charging points, including four V4 Superchargers and four Destination Chargers. The V4 Superchargers offer DC fast-charging speeds of up to 250 kW, while the AC Destination Chargers provide 11 kW output, catering to different charging needs and dwell times.

Key Infrastructure Details:

  • 4 V4 Superchargers (up to 250 kW)
  • 4 Destination Chargers (11 kW)
  • Located at B1 parking, Nexus Seawoods
  • First in-mall Tesla charging facility in India

Tesla says that the Superchargers can add up to 275 km of range to the Model Y in just 15 minutes, which makes them great for quick top-ups during short visits. This is enough for trips like a round trip between Navi Mumbai and Pune.

Seamless Charging Experience and Pricing

Tesla has added its charging network to its mobile app, making it easy for users to find stations, check availability in real time, precondition batteries, track charging progress, and make payments.

Charging Cost Insights:

  • Supercharger rate: ₹24 per kWh
  • Approx. ₹1,800 for Model Y Standard full charge
  • Slightly over ₹2,000 for Long Range variant
  • Destination Charger rate: ₹14 per kWh (more economical option)

Expanding Charging Network in India

Tesla now has four charging stations in India, including Gurugram, Delhi, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai, thanks to this new addition. DLF Horizon Center (Gurugram), Worldmark 3 (Aerocity), One BKC (Mumbai), Tesla Center Gurugram, and Nexus Seawoods are all part of the company’s network.

The expansion reflects Tesla’s focus on building a convenient and accessible EV ecosystem by placing charging stations in locations where users spend time.

Enhancing Customer Engagement

Tesla has also set up a pop-up experience zone in the mall next to the charging station. There are interactive displays, guided tours, and chances to test drive cars in the space. This lets people learn about Tesla’s technology, safety features, and design philosophy.

Product Offering and Market Presence

Tesla’s India portfolio currently centres around the Model Y, available in Standard and Long Range variants, priced between ₹59.89 lakh and ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Customers can also opt for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, subject to regulatory approvals.
