The BESS must satisfy stringent performance standards:
- One full operational cycle per day (4-hour charge + discharge)
- Minimum system availability: 95% annually
- Minimum AC-to-AC round-trip efficiency: 85% (monthly), excluding auxiliaries
- Technology Requirement: Must use commercially established and operational technologies
- Auxiliary Power: Developer may use DISCOM connection or draw from interconnection point
Key Timelines
- BESPA Signing: Within 30 days of LoA
- Commissioning Deadline: 18 months from BESPA effective date
- BESPA Tenure: 15 years from full commissioning
Eligibility Requirements
- Net Worth Requirement: ≥ ₹27,500,000 (~$84,111) per MWh
