Toyota Launches e-Palette: ₹1.25 Cr Autonomous EV for Urban Mobility and Logistics

Toyota Motor Corporation has officially introduced the e-Palette, a next-generation autonomous electric vehicle (EV) built to accommodate a wide range of uses such as shuttle services, deliveries, and mobile retail. Priced at ¥29 million (approximately ₹1.25 crore), the e-Palette is now open for orders in Japan, with government subsidies potentially lowering the price by up to ¥15.8 million (around ₹65 lakh).

Designed with flexibility and user convenience in mind, the e-Palette features a roomy, customizable interior suitable for both passengers and cargo. Measuring 4,950 mm in length, 2,080 mm in width, and 2,650 mm in height, it is well-suited for varied urban applications. The vehicle is powered by a 72.82 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a driving range of about 250 km and can be recharged to 80% in just 40 minutes—making it ideal for efficient urban deployment.

At launch, the e-Palette will support Level 2 autonomous driving, with plans to advance to Level 4 autonomy by 2027, enabling full driverless operation. Technological highlights include a steer-by-wire system, digital signage for adaptable communication, and bidirectional charging, allowing it to function as a mobile power source when stationary.

Toyota is working closely with a range of partners to ensure seamless integration of the e-Palette into real-world environments. The autonomous driving system is developed in collaboration with ADK and is compatible with Toyota’s vehicle control interface. The company is also engaging with dealerships, autonomous tech partners, and local governments to support the rollout of the vehicle across various urban and commercial sectors.

The launch of the e-Palette reinforces Toyota’s commitment to advancing sustainable, autonomous, and versatile mobility solutions. By delivering an all-electric, multi-use vehicle tailored for future transport and logistics needs, Toyota aims to play a leading role in the global transition toward electric and autonomous mobility. International deployment is expected in the near future.

This initiative places Toyota at the leading edge of next-generation mobility, combining electrification, automation, and adaptability to meet the changing demands of cities and businesses.
