TVS Indeon expands battery production for EV battery packs

TVS Indeon Ltd, a subsidiary of Lucas TVS, has expanded its lithium battery production facility at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Gummidipoondi, Chennai. With this expansion, the company has doubled its daily output to 1,000 battery packs, meeting the rising demand for electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

    Expansion Inaugurated by Key Leaders

D Sneha, Executive Director of SIPCOT, TIDAL, and TIDCO, along with industry leaders, inaugurated the expanded facility. The milestone reinforces TVS Indeon’s commitment to supporting India’s transition to sustainable mobility.

    Scaling Up for Future Growth

The plant, which began operations in 2024 with a 1 GWh capacity, is on track to reach its full potential of producing 1,500 battery packs per day by March 2026. The growth will enhance the supply of lithium-ion battery packs exclusively to TVS Motor Company.

    Driving India’s Net Zero Goals

TVS Indeon strengthens its role in reducing carbon emissions by ramping up production. This move also aligns with India’s vision of achieving Net Zero by 2070. As reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com, the company’s focus on high-quality, affordable battery solutions contributes to a cleaner and greener future.

    Government Incentives Boost EV Industry

The government’s incentives, such as the FAME and PLI schemes, continue to support local EV manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports. Lucas TVS has been actively expanding into EV-related products, as reported by manufacturingtodayindia.com. This latest investment further strengthens its commitment to advancing India’s EV ecosystem.
