Vani Sundaram Appointed Chief Financial Officer at Sterlite Electric

Sterlite Electric has appointed Vani Sundaram as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), bringing back an experienced finance leader with prior experience at the company and a broader background spanning power, clean energy, automotive and telecom sectors. The appointment comes as Sterlite Electric continues to pursue its next phase of growth and strengthen its financial and strategic capabilities.

Sundaram brings experience across financial planning and analysis (FP&A), controllership, financial reporting, corporate finance and business partnering. She has worked across multiple industries, including power transmission, renewable energy, automotive components and telecommunications.

Before returning to Sterlite Electric, Sundaram served as Director of Finance at Tenneco Clean Air India Limited. Earlier, she held the position of Head – FP&A and Controllership at Azure Power, adding experience in the renewable energy sector to her finance leadership profile.

Her association with Sterlite also predates her appointment as CFO. During her earlier tenure with the organisation, she held several finance leadership positions, including Head of Finance, AVP Finance Head and Chief Manager – Finance. Industry profiles indicate that she spent more than four years in finance leadership roles within the Sterlite organisation.

Vani Sundaram professional experience also includes finance and controllership roles at Stryker, where she served as Associate Controller & Manager – Finance, and Indus Towers, where she worked in FP&A and financial reporting.

Earlier in her career, she worked with KPMG US and B. Shankar Aiyar & Company, building experience across accounting, reporting and financial management.

Her professional profile lists around 13 years of experience, while her career spans finance functions across several sectors and organisations. She is also associated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and studied at Delhi University.

In her new role, Vani Sundaram is expected to contribute to financial strategy of Sterlite Electric as the company works through its next stage of growth.

In a statement shared following her appointment, Sundaram said she was looking forward to returning to an organisation and industry she knows well. She highlighted growth, profitability, capital allocation, governance and value creation as areas where she intends to contribute, while also focusing on strengthening the finance function as a strategic partner to the business.

The appointment therefore brings together institutional familiarity and broader sector experience. Having previously worked within the Sterlite organisation, Sundaram returns with experience gained across renewable energy and other industrial businesses.

Sterlite Electric operates across the power-transmission and electrical infrastructure value chain, with its portfolio including cables, conductors, OPGW and grid solutions. The company says its technologies and solutions are deployed across more than 70 countries.

Sundaram’s appointment places finance leadership at the centre of the company’s continuing expansion, with the CFO role covering areas ranging from financial performance and capital allocation to governance and long-term value creation.

Sterlite Electric’s current leadership listing identifies Vani Sundaram as Chief Financial Officer, alongside Managing Director Pratik Agarwal and Chief Executive Officer Frédéric Tréfois.

For Sterlite Electric, Sundaram’s return marks more than a senior finance appointment: it brings back a leader familiar with the organisation while adding experience gained across clean energy, industrial manufacturing and corporate finance. Her mandate will be particularly relevant as the company balances growth investments, profitability, capital efficiency and long-term value creation.
