Vikram Solar Crosses 10 GW Global Deployment Milestone, Expands Clean Energy Footprint

Vikram Solar has announced that it has surpassed 10 GW in cumulative global solar module deployments, marking a significant milestone in its growth journey and reinforcing its position in the renewable energy sector.

The company stated that the 10 GW milestone, equivalent to over 25 million solar modules deployed worldwide, has the capacity to power more than 5 million Indian homes. This achievement reflects strong market demand and a consistent expansion strategy over the years.

Rapid Growth and Global Expansion

Vikram Solar has doubled its total deployments from 5 GW to 10 GW in just two years, which shows how quickly it is growing. The company has grown its global presence with about 1.5 GW of exports to 39 countries, even though a large number of installations are still in India.

Headquartered in Kolkata, Vikram Solar continues to strengthen its international presence while maintaining a strong domestic base.

Manufacturing Capacity and Technological Advancements

The company can now make 9.5 GW of modules at its plants in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Its 5 GW plant in Vallam, Tamil Nadu, stands out because it has advanced automation and next-generation manufacturing systems.

As part of its backward integration strategy, Vikram Solar is scaling up operations at its Gangaikondan facility, which is expected to include 6 GW of module capacity and 12 GW of cell manufacturing capacity.

Expansion into Energy Storage

In addition to solar module manufacturing, the company is expanding into the energy storage segment through its platform VSL Powerhive. It plans to establish a 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) facility by FY27. Vikram Solar is also advancing its presence in lithium battery solutions under its brand VION, targeting residential and mobility backup applications.

Leadership Perspective

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director, Vikram Solar, said, “This will enable us to contribute meaningfully to the scale, resilience, and reliability the global energy transition demands.”

Strengthening Renewable Energy Leadership

This 10 GW milestone shows dedication of Vikram Solar promoting clean energy solutions and helping the world make the switch to cleaner energy. The company wants to strengthen its role in providing sustainable energy infrastructure in India and around the world by continuing to invest in manufacturing, technology, and storage solutions.
