Vikram Solar’s PowerHive Launches VION Lithium Battery Range for EVs and Home Energy Storage

Vikram Solar’s PowerHive Launches VION Lithium Battery Range for EVs and Home Energy Storage

PowerHive, the battery and energy storage division of Vikram Solar, has launched its new VION lithium battery product range, marking the company’s entry into distributed battery storage for electric mobility and residential energy backup.

The company said the VION battery portfolio is designed to provide reliable and high-performance energy storage solutions for households, electric mobility applications and small businesses. The initial product lineup includes five battery products across three key categories: inverter batteries, integrated inverter-battery systems and e-rickshaw batteries.

PowerHive also revealed that it has already secured a 100 MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) order, indicating early demand for its energy storage solutions and progress toward larger storage deployments.

Residential Battery Solutions

VION’s line of lithium batteries for home UPS and inverter backup systems ranges from 1.2 kWh to 15 kWh. These batteries can keep your electricity on during power outages and can last for 3, 6, or even 12 hours, depending on how your system is set up.

The 5 kWh to 15 kWh battery packs are capable of running high-power appliances such as air conditioners during power outages.

According to the company, “Built with advanced technology, these batteries are up to five times lighter than traditional batteries, offering fast charging, up to 3,000 life cycles, and a warranty of up to 60 months. VION batteries are a cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective way to back up power in modern homes. They are very efficient (up to 97%), don’t need any maintenance, and are good for the environment.”

Integrated Inverter-Battery System

The VION range also features PowerStack 1.0, an integrated inverter-battery system developed for residential backup applications. The system is available in a 1.2 kWh configuration and comes in wall-mounted and tabletop variants, enabling flexible installation in homes where space is limited.

PowerStack 1.0 incorporates a compact design and a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) to ensure efficient performance and minimal maintenance.

Lithium Batteries for Electric Mobility

The company made a 5 kWh battery for e-rickshaws using LiFePO₄ prismatic cells for the electric mobility market. The battery meets AIS-156 safety standards and is built to handle the tough daily use of commercial three-wheelers.It comes with a 36-month warranty.

Commenting on the launch, Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director, Vikram Solar said, “As India accelerates its transition towards clean energy, energy storage will play a critical role in ensuring reliability, flexibility, and round-the-clock power availability. The launch of our VION battery solutions marks an important step in Vikram Solar’s evolution from a solar manufacturing company to a provider of integrated clean energy solutions. With VION, we are expanding our role across the energy value chain, bringing together generation and storage to enable more reliable, resilient and accessible clean power solutions.”

Arun Mittal, CEO, VSL PowerHive, added, “Whether it is home backup, solar storage, electric mobility, or small-business power needs, VION is engineered to deliver predictable output over years, not months.”

The launch marks a significant step in Vikram Solar’s strategy to expand beyond solar manufacturing into integrated clean energy and energy storage solutions.
