VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company has signed the memoranda of understanding to set up rooftop solar power system in combination with a battery energy storage system (BESS) with the VinFast car plant and two batteries factories at the central province of Ha Tinh.
The projects are a major milestone in the direction of green manufacturing, increased use of renewable energy source, clean energy infrastructure up in Vung Ang Economic Zone.
VinEnergo will invest, and place and operate under the agreements 43 MWp of rooftop solar power capacity and 45 MWh of BESS capacity across each of the three plants. It is anticipated that the systems will produce around 50 million kWh of energy annually which will save over 33000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. This will be part of Vingroup in the effort of being net-zero by 2040.
The rooftop solar-plus-BESS plants of VinEnergo at VinFast, the vinES battery pack and energy storage plant, and battery manufacturing plant of V-G High-Tech Energy Solutions Co., Ltd will similarly be the first roll out in the country to have rooftop solar and BESS under direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) model as government policies promote renewable energies. The model propounds greener production and it is also consistent with the proposed issue of turning the Vung Ang Economic Zone into a green industrial location.
Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy General Director of VinEnergo, said that the company is proud to provide comprehensive green energy solutions for VinFast, VinES, and V-G, helping them gradually complete a green production model and reduce environmental impacts. This is not only an energy project but also a symbol of Vietnamese enterprises’ determination, innovation, and pioneering spirit in applying new technologies to realise Vietnam’s net-zero goal.”
Its countrywide initiative to provide a seamless clean energy solution will only be starting with the Ha Tinh projects. In the case of VinFast, VinES, and V-G, the program will further cement their role in establishing a green manufacturing and transport value chain to represent sustainable development ambitions in Vietnam.
