Waaree Energies named Overall Highest Achiever in RETC’s 2025 PV Module Index, marking a global milestone for Indian solar innovation.

Waaree Energies Limited, India’s leading clean energy transition company, has been named the Overall Highest Achiever in the 2025 PV Module Index Report by the Renewable Energy Test Center (RETC). This recognition makes Waaree Energies the only Indian solar panel manufacturer to earn this global distinction, reaffirming its leadership in quality, reliability, and solar innovation. Remarkably, this marks the second consecutive year the company has received this prestigious honor.

The RETC PV Module Index Report is one of the solar industry’s most rigorous benchmarking frameworks, designed to help stakeholders evaluate and select solar products based on real-world performance under stress. Solar modules are subjected to a wide range of accelerated stress tests to assess their performance, quality, and long-term durability. Through comparative test results, project developers and EPC players can identify the most suitable modules for specific environments, geographies, and energy portfolios.

To identify the best of the best, RETC analyzed overall data distributions across three critical disciplines—quality, performance, and reliability—ranking top performers based on consistency across all testing metrics. Waaree’s strong showing across these categories secured its position as a global leader in the 2025 report.

A key highlight in this year’s evaluation was the assessment of LID (light-induced degradation) resistance, which measures how much power a solar module loses when it is first exposed to sunlight. RETC considers LID resistance a critical indicator of long-term field performance, requiring modules to exhibit less than or equal to 0.5% degradation in maximum power. Waaree was named among the top global performers—a testament to the superior cell technology and materials used in Waaree modules.

Waaree demonstrated technical excellence across key testing categories. Their solar modules undergo rigorous evaluations to ensure high performance and durability, including exposure to extreme temperatures (-40°C to +85°C), 2,000 hours of humidity at 85°C/85% RH, and 192 hours of high-voltage stress. Advanced modeling further optimizes energy output under varying sunlight angles.

“Waaree Energies has met or exceeded the most demanding global benchmarks in solar reliability and performance. Being recognized as an Overall Highest Achiever in our 2025 PV Module Index Report is an exceptionally high bar to pass, earned only by those who have excelled in rigorous bankability test criteria. Waaree’s results reflect a best-in-class commitment to quality, and we congratulate the Indian manufacturer for receiving our top accolade.”

    – Cherif Kedir, President & CEO of RETC.

“Every test passed and every parameter exceeded reflects our belief that quality isn’t optional—it’s elemental. At Waaree, innovation is not a department; it’s our DNA. To be ranked highest among global leaders by RETC is a moment of pride and a signal to the world: India is ready to lead the clean energy future—technologically, sustainably, and reliably.”

    – Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director & CEO of Waaree Energies Limited.

This recognition from RETC not only validates Waaree’s relentless commitment to product excellence but also positions the company as a global flagbearer of Indian manufacturing strength in the renewable energy sector. At a time when the world is rapidly accelerating toward sustainable energy solutions, Waaree’s focus on cutting-edge innovation, robust quality control, and customer-centric engineering continues to raise industry benchmarks.

Waaree Energies currently leads the Indian solar module market, holding a record 17.3% share of total module shipments in India in Q1 2025, alongside rapidly growing export volumes. With this recognition, Waaree reaffirms its mission to empower communities worldwide with high-performance solar technology and to drive the global transition toward a cleaner, greener future.
