Waaree Transpower Invests RS192 Crore to Boost High-Voltage Transformer Manufacturing

Waaree Transpower Private Limited (Waaree Transpower), a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd., is investing approximately ₹192 crore to establish a state-of-the-art transformer manufacturing facility with a capacity of 500 MVA and 400 kV. The investment will significantly expand the company’s power transformer manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its position in the high-voltage power equipment segment.

The new facility is expected to become operational by April 2027 and will enable Waaree Transpower to manufacture and cater to customers across 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV voltage classes. The investment is expected to significantly enhance the company’s ability to meet the growing demand arising from India’s expanding power transmission and renewable energy infrastructure.

The expansion comes against the backdrop of rapidly growing electricity demand and the increasing need for robust transmission and distribution infrastructure, to facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy generation and energy storage capacity into the grid.

With the addition of the new facility, Waaree Transpower is further strengthening its capabilities across the power infrastructure value chain, expanding beyond renewable energy applications to address a broader spectrum of high-voltage transmission requirements.

The company currently has an order book of approximately ₹360 crore for execution during FY 2026–27, providing a strong foundation for its next phase of growth and capacity expansion.

The new 500 MVA / 400 kV facility will complement Waaree Transpower’s existing capabilities and enable the company to participate in larger, more complex, and technically demanding power infrastructure projects.

Viren Doshi, Director, Waaree Energies Limited, said: “Our ₹192 crore investment in a 500 MVA, 400 kV manufacturing facility reflects our long-term confidence in the growth of India’s power infrastructure and the increasing demand for reliable, high-voltage transformation capacity. As renewable energy deployment accelerates, strengthening the transmission network and enabling the seamless integration of new generation and storage capacity into the grid will be equally critical. This facility will significantly enhance our capabilities and enable us to serve customers across a broader range of voltage classes and power infrastructure applications.”

The investment is part of Waaree Transpower’s broader strategy to build a scalable, technologically advanced and diversified electrical infrastructure business, capable of supporting India’s evolving power sector, while creating capabilities for emerging opportunities across renewable energy, BESS and grid infrastructure.

Waaree Transpower (formerly KOTSONS) is a leading manufacturer of power and distribution transformers, specialising in advanced Inverter Duty Transformers for renewable energy applications. With decades of engineering expertise, robust manufacturing capabilities, and a commitment to quality, the company serves as a trusted technology partner to solar developers, utilities, and industrial clients across India. Waaree Transpower’s solutions support large-scale energy infrastructure, enabling reliable power evacuation and contributing to India’s clean energy transformation. Backed by Waaree Energies’ clean-energy leadership, Waaree Transpower continues to enable India’s transition to reliable and sustainable power infrastructure.
