Xbattery has introduced its flagship XB-5K, a 5 kWh scalable energy storage system (ESS) designed for homes and small offices. The lithium iron phosphate (LFP)-based system is developed on the company’s proprietary BharatBMS high-voltage battery management architecture, marking a step toward strengthening India’s domestic capabilities in advanced battery systems and reducing reliance on imports.
The company says that BharatBMS is India’s first universal high-voltage BMS that was made in India. It wants to stop relying on battery management imports from other countries, especially China, which has a big share of the global export market. By developing core technology locally, Xbattery seeks to improve service response, cost efficiency, and supply chain resilience.
Product Features and Capabilities
Weighing 37 kg, the XB-5K delivers up to 5 kWh of backup power. Users can scale capacity up to 15 kWh by adding additional battery units. The plug-and-play system is designed to switch instantly between grid and backup modes, functioning like a high-capacity home power bank.
It can power home and office appliances, like air conditioners, for long periods of time, up to 24 hours, depending on how much load it has. The unit has built-in advanced data analytics, real-time diagnostics, and automatic software updates.
BharatBMS enables AI- and ML-driven features such as:
• Predictive outage response modes
• Real-time state-of-charge monitoring
• Adaptive cell balancing
• Advanced thermal management
These capabilities are designed to extend battery lifespan by up to 15 percent while lowering lifecycle costs through localized manufacturing and service support.
Leadership Commentary
Satish Reddy, Cofounder & CEO of Xbattery, said, “Power outages still affect India’s growing economic productivity. An indigenously developed and affordable energy storage ecosystem is a necessity for the sustainable development of India. We’re building the complete value chain from the ground up inspired by the simplicity of plugging a phone into a powerbank.”
Sonu Mishra, Cofounder and CTO, added, “We’ve built from the ground up focused on real-time analytics, remote diagnostics, and automatic upgrades, exceeding global benchmarks. The in-house architecture adapts seamlessly to a host of diverse energy needs, from homes to EVs and offices to factories.”
