ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned a 240.720 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan, strengthening its presence in India’s growing energy storage sector. The project has been developed through the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, ACME Suryodaya Private Limited.
The battery storage facility was commissioned on June 30, 2026, and is expected to achieve its commercial operation date (COD) on July 2, 2026. Located in Sanwara and Mehar Nagar villages in Pokhran tehsil of Jaisalmer district, the project is designed to provide flexible energy storage capacity and support grid reliability.
The newly commissioned BESS will help improve renewable energy integration by enabling better management of power supply fluctuations. Battery storage systems are becoming increasingly important in India as the country expands solar and wind capacity, requiring additional flexibility to balance intermittent renewable generation.
Following the commissioning, ACME Suryodaya Private Limited’s total commissioned battery storage capacity has increased to 285 MW / 842.624 MWh, marking a significant expansion in the company’s operational energy storage portfolio.
The latest project is part of ACME Solar’s continued investment in Rajasthan’s battery storage infrastructure. Earlier, the company commissioned a 33.33 MW / 120.384 MWh BESS project through its subsidiary ACME Sun Power Private Limited at Badi Sid in Bap tehsil, covering areas in the Phalodi and Jodhpur districts.
The company had also added another 33.333 MW / 160.512 MWh storage capacity at its Rajasthan facility in Bap tehsil, further increasing its operational BESS assets.
ACME Solar has been expanding its clean energy portfolio while focusing on large-scale renewable projects supported by storage solutions. The company recently completed a ₹2,800 crore Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP), marking its first equity fundraising after listing in 2024.
The company aims to achieve an operational renewable energy portfolio of 8 GW by FY2028. It currently has around 5.1 GW of projects under construction, taking its total portfolio to 8,071 MW. ACME Solar also plans to deploy nearly 17 GWh of battery energy storage systems across its upcoming projects.
Its broader expansion strategy includes a proposed 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Rajasthan, green hydrogen and green ammonia initiatives in Oman and Odisha, and exploration of future opportunities in the nuclear energy sector.
To support these growth plans, ACME Solar has outlined an investment programme of around ₹17,000 crore, with energy storage expected to play a key role in its future renewable energy expansion.
