According to a recent business update, Agratas, a battery-making branch of the Tata Group, has appointed Sonpal Singh Hajari to serve as Vice President of Global Launch Integration. Hajari will be responsible for the coordination and strategic planning/execution of Agratas’ global gigafactory launches. In his role, Hajari will primarily support the India and UK plants. His main objective will be to ensure a seamless transition from greenfield development to high volume manufacturing; thus, it is critical to the success of scaling next generation battery production.
The appointment supports Agrata’s continuing effort to enable large-scale production of EV batteries and BESS. As demand for lithium-ion batteries continues to grow internationally, companies seeking to enter the market must focus on the safe and effective operation of their gigafactories.
Before joining Agratas, Hajari worked for TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Gujarat Private Limited, where he was a key player in turning a new project into a stable mass production facility. Since 2021, the plant has been making battery systems that are safe and have no defects. This shows that the company has strict rules for how to run the business and check the quality of its work.
For over two decades, Hajari has gained significant experience within the global manufacturing arena by serving in several leadership positions for worldwide firms including Magna International, ArcelorMittal and Larsen & Toubro Limited. Throughout his career, Hajari has developed expertise in numerous areas including industrial project management; maximising productivity; and optimally manufacturing complex products.
Agratas is currently focused on establishing a strong foothold in the global battery ecosystem, supporting both electric mobility and energy storage applications. Leadership roles such as this are expected to play a crucial part in ensuring timely project execution and maintaining high manufacturing standards as the company scales its operations.
Hajari’s appointment highlights the company’s emphasis on experienced leadership to drive execution efficiency and support its long-term growth strategy in the battery manufacturing sector.
