Avaada Group Powers Rural Transformation in Maharashtra with 1,132 MW Under MSKVY 2.0, Advancing Agri-Solar and Clean Energy Goals

Avaada Group has signed an MoU with the Government of Bihar to invest ₹5,000 crore in developing 1 GW of renewable energy projects.

Avaada Group is actively implementing the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY)—an initiative by the Government of Maharashtra that aims to transform agriculture through solar energy. Through this pioneering initiative, Avaada is enabling a sustainable energy transition for the state’s agricultural sector, touching lives across rural Maharashtra with decentralized solar power.

Launched in 2017, MSKVY was designed to provide reliable daytime power to farmers by setting up solar projects near agriculture-heavy substations. Recognizing its impact, the Maharashtra government scaled up the program through MSKVY 2.0 (Mission 2025), aiming to solarize 30% of agricultural feeders by implementing 7,000 MW of solar capacity across the state by 2025.

These decentralized projects, ranging from 0.5 MW to 25 MW, are being developed within 5–10 km of distribution substations in agriculture-intensive zones—ensuring dependable, daylight-hour electricity access and significantly improving farming outcomes.

As a major partner in this initiative, Avaada is executing a total capacity of 1,132 MW (AC) across key districts including Nashik, Pune, Sangli, Yavatmal, Ahmednagar, Beed, Amravati, Hingoli, Dharashiv, and Solapur. These projects are already transforming the energy landscape in villages and farming communities, reducing reliance on costly diesel and empowering local economies.

MSKVY 2.0 by Avaada will utilize approximately 875 MW of solar panels manufactured within Maharashtra—strengthening the state’s Make in Maharashtra mission and reinforcing local industry.

What makes Avaada’s implementation unique is its end-to-end approach—ranging from technology deployment and community engagement to ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) support. This effort reflects the vision of Mr. Vineet Mittal.

The MSKVY 2.0 initiative is significantly improving the lives of farmers across Maharashtra. With reliable daytime power, farmers can irrigate safely and efficiently, reducing costs and boosting productivity. Many are also earning up to ₹1.25 lakh per hectare annually by leasing land for solar projects. The program has created local jobs and skill development opportunities, especially for youth and women.

Additionally, it has enhanced safety, improved quality of life, and enabled Gram Panchayats to invest in community welfare. Through MSKVY, Avaada is helping build a cleaner, more self-reliant, and sustainable rural Maharashtra.

Avaada’s work under MSKVY is a powerful example of public-private collaboration driving clean energy adoption at the grassroots level. By bringing solar energy directly to the field, Avaada is not only helping reduce the agricultural sector’s carbon footprint but is also building climate resilience in rural communities.

This initiative comes at a critical time, when India is aiming for 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. Avaada’s contribution in the agri-solar space adds momentum to this national mission and reflects its commitment to an inclusive, sustainable energy future.
