Bijliride Extends “Project Udaan” Through its Student Mobility Program

Bijliride Extends "Project Udaan" Through its Student Mobility Program

Bijliride, a tech-enabled electric mobility and rental platform, has formally expanded its student-focused offerings with its flagship ‘Project Udaan’ program. The Student Mobility Program offers flexible, zero-commitment electric two-wheeler rentals to higher-education students across major Indian cities, helping to address transportation barriers and support young adults’ financial independence.

Bijliride Project Udaan initiative comes at a crucial time for the urban student economy. According to recent industry reports, over 4.5 lakh students across India are actively engaged in part-time work to cover essential living expenses such as rent, tuition, and daily travel, earning average monthly earnings between ₹6,000 and ₹15,000. With nearly half (48%) of these roles requiring on-ground presence, accessible and affordable transport has become a critical necessity for young earners. However, high vehicle ownership costs, fragmented transit, and rising daily commuting expenses frequently restrict access to academic campuses, internships, placement drives, and part-time opportunities.

To address these daily commuting costs and the social stigma frequently attached to traditional part-time delivery work, Bijliride has integrated flexible micro-gig opportunities into its digital booking ecosystem. Students can complete brief, optional deliveries, working for as little as one hour a day, to fully offset their daily EV rental costs. Beyond helping students fund their own mobility in a dignified manner and counteracting “job-shaming,” this structure also provides quick-commerce companies and enterprise logistics platforms with a reliable pool of verified, flexible riders to meet hyper-local demand during peak operational hours.
