BlackBuck EV Chalo partnership is set to accelerate India’s transition to sustainable public transport, with the two companies signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deploy up to 300 premium and luxury electric buses across urban and intercity routes.
Under the proposed collaboration, BlackBuck Electric Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. will manufacture, supply and maintain electric buses in 9-metre, 13.5-metre and 15-metre configurations. Chalo Mobility Pvt. Ltd. will deploy and operate the buses using its digital mobility platform, offering services such as live bus tracking, digital ticketing, fare collection, passenger information and fleet management.
The partnership combines BlackBuck EV’s proprietary electric bus technology with Chalo’s expertise in public transport operations and mobility solutions. The companies aim to deliver a connected and efficient passenger experience while supporting the adoption of zero-emission public transportation across India.
BlackBuck EV’s product portfolio includes the VIRO 2X for city operations, the ELON 2X for premium intercity travel, and the ELON 3X, a multi-axle luxury electric bus designed for long-distance services. The buses are built on the company’s proprietary skateboard chassis architecture and feature lightweight aluminium-composite construction, connected diagnostics, real-time telematics, premium interiors and long-range electric drivetrains.
The collaboration will also leverage vehicle and operational data to improve preventive maintenance, optimise fleet performance, enhance route planning and increase vehicle availability. By integrating connected vehicle technology with Chalo’s digital platform, the companies aim to improve reliability and operational efficiency for both operators and passengers.
The initiative aligns with India’s broader push towards cleaner mobility solutions by reducing emissions while enhancing the quality of urban and intercity bus services. The deployment of premium electric buses is also expected to support public transport operators with lower operating costs and contribute to the country’s growing electric mobility ecosystem.
