Coulomb Litech, a startup that makes batteries, has raised ₹20 crore in seed funding to improve its manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its position in India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. The money will help the startup make better battery systems and meet the rising demand for homegrown solutions in the commercial and heavy EV markets.
Founded in 2020 by IIT Kanpur alumni Ameya Sathe and Darshil Dharod, the company focuses on developing fast-charging, long-life battery solutions specifically for medium and heavy electric vehicles such as material handling equipment, electric tractors, construction vehicles and electric three-wheelers.
Strengthening Indigenous Battery Manufacturing
The battery systems from Coulomb Litech work with voltages from 51V to 700V and can hold up to 80 kWh of power. These modular platforms are built to handle heavy-duty tasks, and they are already being used in a number of commercial and pilot projects with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) all over India.
A key strength of the startup is its in-house developed technology stack, which includes hardware, software and algorithms optimized for real-world operations. The company has built its own Battery Management Systems (BMS), liquid cooling solutions, CCS charging systems and IoT-enabled analytics for real-time monitoring of battery health and performance features that support fast charging while prolonging battery life.
Strategic Deployment of Funding
The new money will go toward building a state-of-the-art factory in Navi Mumbai that will increase production capacity and make sure that quality control is very strict. The money will also help businesses grow, do research and development, and expand pilot programs that are already going on in heavy EV segments like electric tractors, cranes, material handling machines, and E-3W vehicles.
Coulomb Litech also aims to strengthen its partnerships with OEMs and fleet operators to accelerate adoption of its battery systems across broader commercial use cases. The company is actively working on improving reliability, safety and performance consistency under rigorous operating conditions.
Supporting India’s EV Electrification Goals
As more and more businesses switch to electric vehicles, Coulomb Litech wants to become the main battery technology partner for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that want to electrify heavy and utility vehicles in India. The startup’s focus on localization and manufacturing scale fits well with national efforts to make EV solutions in the country and rely less on parts from other countries.
