Renewable energy technology company Envision Energy has signed an agreement with AMEA Power for the development of the 500 MW Amunet II Wind Power Project in Egypt, further strengthening the country’s position as a leading renewable energy hub in the Middle East and Africa.
The agreement marks another milestone in the long-standing collaboration between the two companies and is expected to significantly expand Egypt’s renewable energy generation capacity. Upon commissioning, the project will increase AMEA Power’s total wind energy portfolio in Egypt to 1 GW, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country’s clean energy transition.
The Amunet II project forms part of Egypt’s broader strategy to diversify its energy mix, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity generation portfolio. Wind energy has emerged as a key component of these efforts, particularly in regions with strong wind resources that can support large-scale power generation.
Under the agreement, Envision Energy is expected to provide advanced wind turbine technology and related solutions for the project. The company has established a strong global presence in wind energy, energy storage, and green hydrogen technologies, with projects spanning multiple international markets.
AMEA Power has been actively expanding its renewable energy investments across Africa and the Middle East, with a growing portfolio of solar, wind, battery storage, and green hydrogen projects. The addition of the Amunet II project will further strengthen its position in Egypt’s renewable energy sector, where it is already developing and operating major clean energy assets.
The project is expected to contribute to Egypt’s sustainability goals by generating clean electricity, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting long-term energy security. It also aligns with increasing regional efforts to attract investment into renewable energy infrastructure and accelerate the transition to low-carbon power systems.
With the signing of the agreement, both companies have taken another step toward advancing large-scale wind energy deployment and supporting Egypt’s ambition to become a regional renewable energy powerhouse.
