ESR to Acquire Aquila Clean Energy APAC

ESR, a leading Asia-Pacific real asset owner and manager, has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of Aquila Clean Energy APAC, a clean energy platform that develops, owns and operates solar, battery storage and wind assets across the region. The transaction will see ESR acquire the platform from Aquila Group, a Hamburg-based investment and industrial development company.

Infrastructure and clean energy are increasingly critical to the operation and growth of logistics real estate and data centres, driven by rising power demand and industrial decarbonisation. This investment positions ESR across these increasingly interconnected sectors, enhancing its ability to offer capital partners access to a broader range of resilient real asset investment solutions.

Aquila Clean Energy APAC has a 1.6 GW portfolio of operational, construction and advanced development assets in the key Asia-Pacific markets of Australia and New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan, offering significant capital deployment and value creation opportunities. The platform complements ESR’s regional footprint and offers strong adjacencies with its logistics real estate and data centre businesses. The acquisition builds on ESR’s existing activities and pipeline in solar and battery storage and strengthens its capabilities to offer investment opportunities across renewables.

Completion of the transaction is expected by Q1 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable approvals. Following completion, ESR intends to work closely with the Aquila Clean Energy APAC management team to accelerate growth, scale investment solutions, and realise opportunities across ESR’s Asia-Pacific platform.
