Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), a material subsidiary of Exide Industries Limited, has completed the commissioning of Phase-I of its lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka. The company completed the commissioning of the facility on September 23, 2026, according to a regulatory disclosure filed with the stock exchanges.
The Phase-I facility has a manufacturing capacity of 6 GWh and has been established to produce advanced lithium-ion cells. The facility is designed to manufacture cells across multiple chemistries and form factors, enabling their use in a broad range of mobility and energy storage applications.
The commissioning marks the completion of the first phase of EESL’s lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility in Devanahalli. The development is part of the company’s efforts to establish domestic capabilities for advanced battery cell manufacturing.
According to the disclosure, the facility will manufacture lithium-ion cells using multiple chemistries and form factors. This manufacturing flexibility is intended to support applications across the mobility and energy storage sectors.
The facility is located at Devanahalli in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and represents a manufacturing capacity of 6 GWh in its first phase. With the facility now commissioned, Exide Energy has established a dedicated production base for advanced lithium-ion cells for different applications.
The announcement was made through a disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, along with applicable SEBI circulars. Exide Industries submitted the disclosure to the BSE, NSE and Calcutta Stock Exchange on September 23, 2026.
The company stated that the facility’s ability to produce advanced lithium-ion cells across multiple chemistries and form factors will allow EESL to serve a wide range of requirements in mobility and energy storage.
The 6 GWh Phase-I capacity adds to India’s developing domestic battery manufacturing ecosystem, particularly as demand for lithium-ion cells grows across electric mobility and stationary energy storage applications. The Devanahalli facility provides EESL with dedicated manufacturing infrastructure for these applications and establishes the first commissioned phase of the company’s lithium-ion cell manufacturing operations.
With Phase-I commissioning completed on September 23, EESL’s Devanahalli facility is now positioned to manufacture advanced lithium-ion cells across multiple configurations for mobility and energy storage applications.
