Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Monday virtually inaugurated KP Green Engineering’s new state-of-the-art steel fabrication and galvanising plant at Matar in Bharuch district.
The ceremony was attended by Botswana’s Minister for Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, who physically inaugurated Asia’s largest galvanising kettle at the facility, the company said in an official statement.
Spread over 45 acres, the Matar unit is a modern steel fabrication and hot-dip galvanising plant with an annual production capacity of 2.94 lakh tonnes. Once fully operational by 2026, it will increase KP Green Engineering’s total capacity from the existing 3,10,500 tonnes per annum to 4,00,500 tonnes per annum.
Referring to the recent MoU signed between KP Group and the Government of Botswana for renewable energy projects, Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi added, “The proposed development of up to 5 GW of renewable energy capacity supports the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to position India and Gujarat as global hubs for clean energy solutions.”
The new facility will support critical national infrastructure sectors including power transmission and distribution, solar and wind energy mounting structures, railway electrification, highways, telecom towers, pre-engineered buildings, and heavy engineering projects. The plant is also integrating green hydrogen-based processes under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to reduce carbon emissions in galvanising operations.
Dr. Faruk G. Patel, Founding Promoter and Chairman of KP Group, stated, “The Matar plant has been designed to deliver uniform quality, superior galvanising and long-life infrastructure assets for India’s critical sectors. Our focus remains on supporting national priorities in renewable energy, infrastructure and manufacturing, while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and contributing to the nation’s growth.”
Dr. Patel further added, “The Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, along with the Government of Gujarat led by Shri Bhupendra Patel and Shri Harsh Sanghavi, has created a conducive environment for industries to grow. Their proactive approach and policy support have enabled companies like KP Group to expand.”
The Matar facility is expected to create 6,000 to 7,000 direct and indirect jobs. With a renewable energy pipeline exceeding 6 GW, KP Group continues to play a key role in India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
By supplying high-quality fabricated and galvanised structures to domestic and international markets, including the United States, KP Green Engineering is enhancing India’s global manufacturing presence and competitiveness in infrastructure solutions.
