HiTHIUM Unveils World’s First 8-Hour-Native Battery Energy Storage Solution

HiTHIUM unveiled the revolutionary ∞Power8 6.9MW/55.2MWh, the world’s first 8-hour-native battery energy storage solution, At its third Eco-Day setting a new benchmark in long-duration energy storage (LDES) technology. Designed with a dedicated 8-hour battery cell and built on a complete 8-hour LDES system architecture, this solution delivers continuous, all-weather renewable power, transforming the future of grid stability and renewable energy utilization.

“With its ability to enhance grid stability and increase renewable energy utilization, 8-hour LDES has become a key direction for the industry. Lithium stands out as the optimal choice, and our dedicated 8-hour lithium cells offer the best fit for system-level requirements due to higher integration, efficiency, and stability,” HiTHIUM stated.

Dedicated 8-Hour System: Cost-Efficient, High-Performance, and Safe

The ∞Power8 6.9MW/55.2MWh is a turnkey solution purpose-built for 8-hour, all-weather energy storage. Each highly integrated standard unit delivers 6.9MW of power and 55.2MWh of energy, comprising one medium-voltage module and eight energy storage modules. Optimized hoisting and cabling reduce on-site construction intensity, increase deployment efficiency by 18%, and cut land use by 23% compared to previous generations. The system is preconfigured for standalone energy storage plants, large wind–solar bases, and extreme environments.

Cost Reduction: By eliminating redundant components, the system increases integration level by over 10% and improves efficiency by more than 30%.

High-Efficiency Operation: Intelligent control, thermal-island simulation, and end-to-end active balancing reduce auxiliary power consumption by over 30%, improve temperature control precision by 50%, increase response speed by 20%, and enhance balancing capability by 20 times, achieving over 97% efficiency. The active balancing strategy alone can save more than USD 1 million per 1 GWh of LDES.

Safety and Reliability: The system incorporates high-strength steel-belt confinement technology, rapid dual-valve pressure release design, and new-generation insulation materials capable of withstanding 800°C and 300 kPa without failure. HiTHIUM is also the first company globally to pass an open-door fire test, demonstrating exceptional thermal resilience.

1300Ah Dedicated 8-Hour Cell: Large Capacity and Long Lifespan

At the core of the 8-hour-native solution is the ∞Cell 1300Ah 8h, designed for the 6.9MWh BESS. Each cell delivers over four times the capacity of mainstream products, reducing system components by more than 30%. With multilayer protection from materials to system integration, the cell passes rigorous safety tests with non-propagating thermal runaway. Designed for over 25 years of operation, it ensures full-lifecycle safety and long-term returns for LDES projects.

HiTHIUM highlighted that the breakthrough in capacity and cost-efficiency comes from proprietary ultra-thick electrode technology, overcoming challenges such as electrode cracking, slow ion-electron transport, and electrolyte penetration. Compared with the previous-generation ∞Cell 1175Ah, electrode thickness has been significantly increased, reducing foil and other power component costs by over 50% versus 2-hour cells.

As an early mover in lithium-based LDES, HiTHIUM has built a cell portfolio spanning 587Ah, 1175Ah, and 1300Ah, with the first two already achieving GWh-scale shipment. The ∞Power8 6.9MW/55.2MWh system is scheduled for mass production in Q4 2026.

“The launch of the world’s first 8-hour-native solution establishes a new technical pathway for long-duration storage, advancing cost-efficiency, safety, and operational performance. HiTHIUM will continue innovating across renewable bases, AIDCs, and other key scenarios to make all-weather green power a new standard in global energy supply,” the company stated.
