India’s solar panel manufacturing capacity listed under the government’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has reached a new high of 162,109 MW (162 GW) after the latest update by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
ALMM is a list that shows which solar modules and makers are approved for use in government-linked solar projects and tenders. It helps ensure quality and supports India’s strategy to boost domestic manufacturing.
Big Increase in February 2026
- In the February 2026 update, MNRE added 17,268 MW of solar module manufacturing capacity to the ALMM List-I.
- This brought the total listed capacity to 162,109 MW.
New Companies Added
Two companies were added to the ALMM for the first time this month:
- Space Solar (KRG Power Solar) – added 1,094 MW
- Sun2Earth Solar – added 30 MW
Capacity Growth by Established Manufacturers
Many existing Indian solar makers increased their production capacity:
- RenewSys India added 2,268 MW, raising its total to 5,117 MW.
- SAEL SOLAR P6 added 1,535 MW – now 4,129 MW total.
- Pahal Solar increased by 2,076 MW.
- Sunbond Energy added 844 MW.
- Premier Energies Global Environment boosted by 1,507 MW – reaching 5,153 MW total.
- Grew Energy (Grew Solar) saw 3,015 MW more – now at 5,818 MW.
- Other expansions were made by Emmvee Energy (2,079 MW), ReNew Photovoltaics (624 MW), Sunify Solar (1,406 MW), Surya International Enterprise (320 MW), Adani Solar (244 MW), and Unique Sun Power (226 MW).
Last Update (December 2025)
- In the December 22, 2025 update, MNRE had added 23,119 MW of module capacity, lifting the total then to 144,841 MW.
- That update also included six new manufacturers such as Znshine Solarworld, Inox Solar, and Macwin Solar Energy.
Why It Matters
The ALMM list is important because only manufacturers on this list can supply solar modules for government solar projects and programs. The regular updates reflect India’s growing efforts to strengthen domestic solar panel production and reduce reliance on imports.
