A high‑level delegation led by Prof. Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), met with Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss renewable energy collaboration between the two countries.
The discussions focused on the current status and future potential of renewable energy development, including areas such as solar power, green hydrogen, bioenergy, hydro, and geothermal energy. Both sides exchanged perspectives on the progress made in their respective national energy transitions and identified opportunities to deepen cooperation in renewable energy deployment, technology sharing, and policy exchange.
The meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation to accelerate clean energy transitions, strengthen energy security, and contribute to climate change mitigation goals. Key topics on the agenda included the expansion of solar energy capacity, cooperation on green hydrogen value chains, and potential joint research and development initiatives in bioenergy and geothermal technologies all central to both countries’ renewable energy strategies.
Indonesia’s MEMR delegation emphasised the nation’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy mix and achieving its energy transition objectives, while India’s MNRE reaffirmed its ambitious renewable capacity targets and ongoing efforts to scale up sustainable energy infrastructure. India has made significant strides in renewable energy expansion, with non‑fossil fuel sources accounting for a growing share of its electricity capacity under MNRE’s policies and programs.
Both delegations agreed to explore enhanced technical cooperation frameworks and consider future collaborations that could involve knowledge sharing, joint projects, and capacity building. These discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for further engagements and possible formal partnerships in the near future.
The meeting underscores the growing importance of international cooperation in renewable energy, reflecting shared priorities to accelerate clean energy deployment and support sustainable economic growth in both Indonesia and India.
