Insolation Green Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Insolation Energy, has received Letters of Award (LoAs) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to develop nine solar power projects with a combined capacity of 99 MW AC (128.7 MW DC) across Maharashtra.
The projects have been awarded under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0, Maharashtra’s initiative to expand decentralised solar generation and provide renewable electricity to the agricultural sector.
Nine Solar Projects Across Maharashtra
The LoAs were awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by MSEDCL for the development of grid-connected solar power projects at multiple locations across the state.
Once commissioned, the nine projects will collectively provide 99 MW of AC generation capacity, with a corresponding DC capacity of 128.7 MW.
The projects are expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s renewable energy infrastructure while supporting the state’s efforts to increase the availability of locally generated solar electricity.
Tariff Set at ₹2.90 per Unit
According to the company, the projects have been awarded at a finalized levelized tariff of ₹2.90 per unit across all nine locations.
Based on the awarded capacity and tariff, the projects are expected to generate approximately ₹59.72 crore in annual revenue for Insolation Green Energy.
The projects will also provide a potential long-term revenue stream over an operational period of 25 years, supporting the company’s renewable energy business and expanding its portfolio of utility-scale solar assets.
Supporting Distributed Solar Generation
The projects are being developed under Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0, which focuses on increasing renewable power availability for agricultural consumers and improving the reliability of electricity supply.
By developing solar projects at multiple locations, the programme aims to bring generation closer to demand centres and strengthen the use of renewable energy within the state’s electricity network.
For Maharashtra, additional grid-connected solar capacity can help reduce dependence on conventional power generation while supporting the state’s broader clean-energy goals.
Opportunity for Renewable and Storage Integration
The expansion of solar capacity also creates opportunities for the wider clean-energy ecosystem, including power transmission, grid management and energy storage.
As solar generation increases, battery energy storage systems (BESS) can help manage fluctuations in renewable output and shift electricity to periods of higher demand. Future solar projects could therefore increasingly be paired with storage technologies to provide more flexible and dispatchable renewable power.
For Insolation Green Energy, the latest awards mark a significant addition to its project pipeline. The nine projects collectively increase the company’s presence in Maharashtra’s growing solar market while providing a long-term contracted revenue opportunity.
