JSW Energy Limited has declared the successful start of the 85 MW of new renewable energy generation, which is a further step towards making the company one of the frontrunners of green energy companies in India. The new capacity will include 74 MW of solar power (as part of the NHPC Hybrid Project) and 11 MW of wind power, which will give the company an overall installed capacity of 13,295 MW.
Through this accomplishment, renewables have been able to form 57 percent of the total capacity portfolio of JSW Energy. The renewable portfolio consists of 3,720 MW of wind, 2,286 MW of solar, and 1,631 MW of hydropower, which proves the fact that the company is dedicated to developing the clean energy transition of India.
JSW Energy has a total locked-in capacity of 30.5 GW currently composed of 13.3 GW operational, 12.5 GW under construction, 150 MW hydro under acquisition, and a 4.6 GW project pipeline.
Other than generation, JSW Energy is also developing energy storage solutions at a significant pace. The firm has already acquired 29.4 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity; 26.4 GWh of this is pumped hydro storage capacity, and 3.0 GWh is battery energy storage systems.
In the future, JSW Energy is having aggressive long-term goals of 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of capacity of energy storage by FY 2030 and is working towards the goal of being carbon neutral in 2050.
