JSW Thermal Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has entered into a contract with its associate company, Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Limited, to procure two 800 MW steam turbine generators for Phase 2 of the Salboni Thermal Project in West Bengal.
With this order, the Company has completed the placement of turbine-generator equipment orders for the entire 3,200 MW (4 x 800 MW) Salboni Thermal Power Project (Salboni TPP), following the earlier order for Phase 1 (2 x 800 MW) units.
The turbine-generator package will be manufactured and supplied in line with the project’s construction schedule, supporting timely completion and commissioning of the plant. By sourcing key equipment through an associate company, the Company aims to enhance supply-chain certainty, improve coordination during execution, and reduce risks arising from industry-wide equipment shortages.
JSW Energy currently has an installed thermal generation capacity of 5,958 MW and 5,000 MW under construction capacity, comprising 3,200 MW at Salboni and 1,800 MW at JSW Mahanadi Power Company Limited (JMPCL).

JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW comprising 15.0 GW operational and 13.4 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewables along with a pipeline of 4.0 GW. Locked-in energy storage capacity stands at 29.6 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage positioning the Company to supply firm, round-the-clock power as the sector shifts from energy to dispatchability.
