Kedar Apte to Join M&M as EV Charging Head

Beginning October 1, 2024, Apte—who was previously the Farm Equipment Sector’s Chief of International Operations—will assume responsibility as Senior Vice President and Head of Charging Infrastructure for the Auto and Farm Sectors. Hemant Sikka, President of the Farm Equipment Sector, and Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division, will both get reports from him in this capacity.

Apte will take the lead in starting and running the EV charging company. He will assemble a group of people who are committed to organizing, carrying out, and developing the infrastructure needed to charge cars at homes, workplaces, and other sites. The company stated that he will work closely with the company to explore and build new channels for future growth, while also utilizing the Powerol network that is now in place.

Starting with the 3XO electric and the ground-up battery EVs on the Inglo platform starting in 2025, Mahindra & Mahindra has planned at least six additional electric vehicles for the next two to three years. These models are BE05, BE07, BE09, XUV e8, and XUV e9.

With a capacity of 1.2 lakh units annually, the corporation has committed to investing over Rs 12,000 crore in its EV SUV business, which should be operational by the first quarter of 2025 with plans for future expansion. Within the next three to five years, M&M wants to have 20 to 30 percent of its total sales in the electric vehicle market.
