Dr. Ram Prasath Manohar has officially assumed charge as the Managing Director of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), outlining a clear focus on strengthening grid reliability, accelerating renewable energy integration, and ensuring the timely execution of key transmission infrastructure projects across the state.
Taking over the leadership of one of India’s largest state-owned power transmission utilities, Dr. Manohar expressed his gratitude to the organisation’s leadership and the Karnataka government for their support and confidence.
“I am grateful for the warm welcome and support from the Board of Directors and the senior leadership team,” Dr. Manohar said. “I also place on record my sincere thanks to the Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Shri K.J. George and Shri Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Energy, for their guidance.”
As Karnataka continues to witness rapid economic growth, urbanisation, and increasing energy demand, Dr. Manohar emphasised the critical role of the transmission network in ensuring uninterrupted power supply to households, industries, and public services across the state.
“The transmission network is the backbone of reliable power for homes, industry, and public services. As Karnataka grows, it becomes increasingly important to build a grid that is resilient, efficient, and prepared for future energy requirements,” he noted.
Dr. Manohar outlined three key priorities that will guide KPTCL’s efforts in the coming years.
The first is strengthening grid reliability and transmission performance to ensure a stable and dependable power supply across Karnataka. The second focuses on building a future-ready transmission network capable of supporting the growing share of renewable energy, integrating energy storage systems, and adopting modern operational technologies. The third priority is improving project execution through faster approvals, strict adherence to quality and safety standards, and timely completion of critical infrastructure projects.
These priorities align closely with Karnataka’s broader energy transition goals, which include expanding renewable energy capacity and modernising the state’s power infrastructure to meet future demand.
Dr. Manohar said he looks forward to working closely with employees and stakeholders across the organisation to further strengthen KPTCL’s role in powering Karnataka’s development.
“I look forward to working with the KPTCL family to deliver a resilient, efficient, and citizen-first power network for Karnataka,” he said.
With the state continuing to expand its renewable energy footprint and industrial base, KPTCL is expected to play a pivotal role in enabling reliable power transmission, supporting grid modernisation, and ensuring energy security for millions of consumers across Karnataka.
