Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) has invited online bids to select a developer for setting up 500 MW/1,600 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity at six locations across Maharashtra.
The projects will be developed under the Build, Own and Operate (BOO) model, with the selected developer responsible for operation and maintenance (O&M) for 15 years. The tender includes storage configurations of two and four hours, with interconnection at Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) State Transmission Utility (STU) substations at 33 kV and above.
The tender, issued under RFX No. CE/RE-P&P/500MW/BESS/2026, covers projects at Uran, Koradi, Nashik, Chandrapur (Lakhmapur), Parli and Khaperkheda. Interested bidders must submit their online bids by November 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST. The techno-commercial bids are scheduled to open on the same day at 6:00 PM IST.

Bid Submission and Tender Schedule
MAHAGENCO will make the bidding documents available through the Bharat Electronic Tender portal after the required vendor registration fee is paid. The schedule also sets October 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST as the deadline for bidder queries and comments, while amended bid documents are scheduled for issue on October 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM IST. Physical supporting documents must also be submitted by the online bid deadline for verification. The price bid opening and e-reverse auction dates will be announced later.
