Surat-based solar module manufacturer Navitas Solar plans to invest ₹10,000 crore over the next five years to develop renewable energy facilities across Gujarat and Maharashtra. The investment will cover manufacturing, energy storage and renewable power generation projects.
The company said the investment will expand its presence across both upstream and downstream segments of the renewable energy value chain, including solar cells, ingots, wafers, battery energy storage systems and solar power generation. The planned projects are also aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and supply-chain capacity.
As part of the expansion, Navitas Solar is developing a 2.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at Sisodara in Gujarat. Phase I of the project involves an investment of around ₹1,200 crore, with the facility targeted to become operational by July 2027.
The company is also developing pilot lines for ingot and wafer manufacturing. These facilities are intended to establish the technical capabilities required for production and provide a base for future expansion in upstream solar manufacturing.
Beyond solar manufacturing, Navitas Solar is expanding into renewable power generation through projects in Maharashtra. The company is developing two solar parks with capacities of 200 MW and 25 MW under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and independent power producer (IPP) models.
In Gujarat, Navitas Solar is entering the energy storage segment with a planned 5 GWh battery energy storage facility in Vadodara. The project forms part of the company’s broader expansion across the clean energy value chain.
The company currently has an annual solar module manufacturing capacity of 3 GW. It has also been pursuing backward integration through its solar encapsulant business, Navitas Alpha, while expanding its renewable energy portfolio through subsidiaries including Navitas Planet.
Navitas Solar’s EPC business is also expanding its international operations, including activities in South Africa focused on utility-scale and IPP projects.
Founded in 2013, Navitas Solar manufactures Mono PERC and N-Type TOPCon solar modules with capacities of up to 720 watts. The company’s ₹10,000 crore investment roadmap covers solar manufacturing, renewable power generation and battery energy storage, alongside efforts to expand domestic value addition across the renewable energy supply chain.
