NHPC Limited has appointed Paresh Ranpara as Director (Personnel) on its Board of Directors for a five-year term, bringing nearly three decades of experience in the power sector and human resources management to the state-owned hydropower company.
In his new role at NHPC, Paresh Ranpara is expected to strengthen its human resource strategies and organisational capabilities as the company continues to expand its presence across India’s power and renewable energy sectors. His professional experience spans human resources transformation, organisational restructuring, workforce planning, leadership development and strategic HR initiatives.
Ranpara is an alumnus of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and Sardar Patel University. He is also a certified assessor from XLRI – Xavier School of Management, one of India’s leading management institutions.
Prior to joining NHPC, Ranpara served at Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India), where he gained experience in the power sector’s institutional and organisational environment. He previously held leadership positions at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) and the erstwhile Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB).
During his career with GUVNL and GEB, Ranpara contributed to several major human resources transformation and organisational initiatives across Gujarat’s power sector. His experience includes managing workforce-related strategies and supporting organisational development in large-scale power sector institutions.
With the power industry undergoing significant transformation driven by renewable energy, energy storage, grid modernisation and evolving workforce requirements, Ranpara’s experience in strategic HR and organisational transformation is expected to support NHPC’s long-term growth plans.
NHPC, a central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is one of India’s leading hydropower companies and has been expanding its portfolio beyond conventional hydropower into renewable energy and other clean energy segments. The company is increasingly focusing on solar, wind and other renewable energy projects as India accelerates its transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy mix.
Ranpara’s appointment comes at a time when the energy sector is witnessing rapid technological and structural changes, requiring organisations to develop skilled workforces and strengthen leadership capabilities. His extensive experience across major power sector organisations is expected to help NHPC address evolving human resource requirements and enhance organisational effectiveness.
The appointment further adds to NHPC’s leadership team as the company works towards expanding its clean energy portfolio and contributing to India’s broader renewable energy and energy transition goals.
