Shri Manohar Lal, Minister of Power, submitted a written reply to the Lok Sabha stating that the NHPC Limited, along with its Joint Venture (JV) and Subsidiary companies, has successfully commissioned a total of 23 hydropower projects till October 2025, achieving a cumulative installed capacity of 7,771 MW. The total electricity generation from these projects over the last three years and the current year is as follows:
- 2022-23: 29,894 Million Units (MU)
- 2023-24: 26,056 MU
- 2024-25: 25,194 MU
- 2025-26 (Apr-Oct): 23,015 MU
Currently, eight hydropower projects are under construction by NHPC Limited and its JV/subsidiary companies with a total planned capacity of 8,514 MW, as detailed below:

- Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, Arunachal Pradesh – 2,000 MW, 7,422 MU, Rs. 27,948 Cr, Commissioning: Dec 2026
- Dibang Multipurpose Project, Arunachal Pradesh – 2,880 MW, 11,223 MU, Rs. 31,876 Cr, Commissioning: Feb 2032
- Teesta-VI Hydroelectric Project, Sikkim – 500 MW, 2,400 MU, Rs. 8,449 Cr, Commissioning: Sept 2029

NHPC Limited emphasizes local employment generation through contractors, benefiting Project Affected Families (PAFs) and supporting local entrepreneurship. Bidding opportunities are provided to residents and PAFs to promote local business participation.
For grievance redressal, the Government of India has launched the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), ensuring timely examination and resolution of issues.
