NTPC commissions 90 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat

NTPC commissions 90 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat

The Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat, with a 90 MW capacity, has been successfully commissioned by NTPC Limited. The project has also been officially declared commercially operational as of April 25, 2026. This milestone reinforces NTPC’s position as a leader in India’s energy landscape, proving that the journey toward a greener future is well under way. This represents the seventh part-capacity of the massive 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project located in Gujarat.

On April 25, 2026, the company stated that the newly added capacity became operational from 00:00 hours. The 90 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project is part of the larger 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project and represents the seventh Operational phase of the project.

The company informed stock exchanges that its subsidiary, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has declared the commercial operation date (COD) for the seventh part capacity of 90 MW out of the 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project. The project is being executed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC through NGEL.

Following this development, NTPC Group’s total installed capacity has risen to 89,705 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 88,625 MW.

Total Capacity Sees Increase

Following the addition, the company’s total operational capacity has risen from 10,363.90 MW to 10,453.90 MW. The increase underlines its growing presence in India’s renewable energy sector.

NTPC Green Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited focuses on renewable energy development, including solar and wind projects, and plays a strategic role in advancing India’s clean energy goals.

Strengthening India’s Renewable Energy Goals

The commissioning of additional solar capacity aligns with India’s broader push toward clean energy and reduced carbon emissions.

NTPC Green Energy Limited continues to focus on expanding its renewable portfolio, supporting the country’s transition toward sustainable and green power sources.
