PHDCCI to Lead 2nd Renewable Energy & EV Business Delegation to China

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) is organising its 2nd Renewable Energy & Electric Vehicle (RE & EV) Sector Business Delegation to China from 11–17 October 2026, including participation in the 140th Canton Fair in Guangzhou.

The delegation comes against the backdrop of the recent 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, which underscored the need for resilient global supply chains, energy security, access to critical minerals, a faster clean-energy transition, and stronger economic cooperation among emerging economies.

The delegation assumes particular significance at a time when India and China have indicated the importance of strengthening business and economic engagement, improving market access and addressing supply-chain issues. The recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit also underlined the need to expand business and people-to-people linkages while addressing trade imbalances and supply-chain concerns.

The BRICS New Delhi Declaration has also placed emphasis on a just, orderly and inclusive energy transition, energy security, diversified and resilient supply chains, digitalisation of energy systems and cooperation in developing critical mineral resources. The PHDCCI’s business delegation also has similar aims and will explore strategic sourcing of Battery Energy Storage Systems, EV Charging and Power Trains, Solar Inverters and similar products essential for the growth of the renewable energy sector in India.

PHDCCI’s delegation will focus on converting these broader developments into practical business opportunities for Indian industry. The delegation will cover key industrial and innovation hubs including Shenzhen, Dongguan and Guangzhou, providing Indian companies an opportunity to understand China’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and explore partnerships across the clean-energy and electric-mobility value chains.

The programme will include structured B2B meetings with selected Chinese companies, interactions with industry associations and visits to relevant industrial and technology ecosystems and two days at Canton Fair to explore new trends and innovations in the sector, enabling Indian businesses to identify potential suppliers, technology partners, investors and collaborators.

PHDCCI believes that such engagement should contribute to India’s larger objective of building domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthening supply-chain resilience, promoting technology partnerships and increasing India’s competitiveness in global markets.

The delegation therefore aims to go beyond conventional sourcing and buyer-seller interactions and facilitate long-term industrial collaboration, technology partnerships, and knowledge exchange.

BRICS adds a new dimension to India-China business engagement

The recent BRICS Summit has given additional relevance to business-to-business engagement among major emerging economies. The expanded BRICS grouping represents a significant platform for cooperation across trade, investment, technology, energy and sustainable development. China has also proposed initiatives aimed at creating a larger and more integrated BRICS market and strengthening cooperation in trade, investment and supply chains.

Against this backdrop, PHDCCI’s delegation seeks to provide Indian businesses with a practical industry-level platform for engaging with Chinese companies, while keeping India’s strategic priorities of domestic value addition, export competitiveness and supply-chain diversification firmly in focus.

The delegation will also provide participants an opportunity to visit the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Guangzhou. The first phase of the Autumn Canton Fair will be held from 15–19 October 2026 and includes sectors such as industrial automation and intelligent manufacturing, processing machinery, power and electrical equipment, new energy, new-energy vehicles and smart mobility, vehicles and auto components, electronics and electrical products, hardware and tools.

Dr Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI, stated that the delegation has been designed to help Indian companies move from technology and market exposure to concrete business outcomes. The initiative is also expected to contribute to stronger India-China industry engagement in areas that are central to India’s clean-energy transition and the country’s ambition to develop globally competitive manufacturing and supply chains.
