Rail Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL) has awarded a long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) contract to POWERCON for its 26-megawatt wind power project located at Dangri in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. The contract will be effective from 16 December 2025 and will run for a period of 10 years, the companies said.
REMCL is a public sector enterprise of the Government of India and a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd. The wind project comprises 13 units of 2 MW wind turbines supplied by InoxWind, which have completed their initial 10-year operating period under the original equipment manufacturer’s service arrangement.
As the project enters the second half of its operational lifecycle, POWERCON will take over responsibility for restoring and sustaining turbine performance. The engagement will be executed in two phases.
Phase 1 will involve detailed technical diagnostics of the wind turbine generators and unit substations, followed by structured remediation to restore functionality, stabilise turbine performance, and ensure safety systems.
Phase 2, spanning the full 10-year term, will focus on operations and maintenance aimed at maintaining high energy availability, improving productivity, enhancing reliability, and extending asset life.
The wind farm operates in a challenging desert environment characterised by frequent sandstorms, high dust levels and wide temperature variations, requiring specialised technical expertise and a performance-focused asset management approach. REMCL said POWERCON was selected through an open competitive bidding process and is expected to improve energy yields and long-term reliability.
Commenting on the award, Praveen Kakulte, Founder and CEO of the POWERCON Group, said, “Our focus will be disciplined execution, strong technical governance and ensuring the turbines return to and remain at their optimal operating potential throughout its lifetime.” He added, “We appreciate the confidence a major PSU has placed in us. REMCL expects a marked improvement in reliability and lifetime performance of the project, and we fully recognise the responsibility this entails.”
REMCL stated that the partnership aligns with its mission to drive technical innovation and sustainable strategies within a clean and resilient power framework. The company said POWERCON’s domain expertise and asset management capabilities are expected to support optimal energy yield and extend the longevity of the wind plant assets as they enter their second operational phase.
POWERCON said it has experience managing multiple turbine platforms, including AMSC-technology InoxWind turbines, and works with independent power producers such as Tata Power, NTPC, SJVN, ReNew, Apraava Energy, O2 Power and Serentica.
