On Wednesday, RSWM, one of India’s most successful textile producers, declared that it has come to a contract with Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) to acquire 60 MW of renewable energy.
Adani Energy Solutions will manage the whole value chain of green power to support the additional power demand of RSWM. To ensure that the manufacturing plants in Rajasthan acquire 31.53 crore units of green power every year, RSWM, the head company of the LNJ Bhilwara Group, has invested Rs 60 crore in the Group Captive Scheme with a renewable genco (green generation company).
This addition will see renewable energy contribution towards the total energy requirement of RSWM rise from the present 33 percent to 70 percent in the near future to serve approximately two-thirds of its overall energy requirements.
Riju Jhunjhunwala, Chairman, Managing Director, and CEO of RSWM, stated, “This achievement underscores our long-term vision to align growth with sustainability and reinforce our position as a forward-looking industrial leader.”
He added, “By sourcing 70 percent of our total energy requirement from renewable sources—well above the national average of India’s clean energy mix (31 percent)—RSWM continues to set industry benchmarks in responsible energy transition.”
Kandarp Patel, CEO, AESL, said, “We are delighted to partner with RSWM on this landmark initiative that demonstrates how sustainability is becoming integral to businesses.”
He further mentioned, “This collaboration is a testament to the scalability and impact of renewable power in strengthening industrial growth while ensuring sustainability. As a leading energy solutions provider for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) sector, we feel privileged to play a catalytic role in helping industries decarbonize through our innovative offerings.”
The C&I vertical of AESL provides clients in bulk electricity with tailor-made energy solutions. The AESL offers businesses in all industries the ability to achieve operational and sustainability goals by supplying them with reliable, competitively priced, and progressively green power. The firm has a target of developing C&I of 7,000 MW within the next five years.
Rajeev Gupta, Joint Managing Director, RSWM, added, “By integrating hybrid power, RSWM is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also enhancing long-term energy security and operational efficiency.”
The largest privately owned transmission company in India, AESL has 16 states and a total transmission network of 26,705 ckm and 97,236 megawatts of transformation capacity.
