STEAG Energy Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Kota BhanuPrakash as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a new phase in the company’s growth strategy as it expands its operations and maintenance (O&M) portfolio and strengthens its capabilities across the evolving energy sector.
Kota BhanuPrakash will continue to serve as a member of the company’s board alongside his new leadership responsibilities. In his role as CEO, he will be responsible for driving STEAG India’s overall business strategy, operational performance, customer engagement and long-term growth initiatives.
The leadership transition comes at a time when India’s energy sector is undergoing significant transformation, driven by the growing adoption of renewable energy, energy storage, digital technologies and the need for improved efficiency across power assets. Against this backdrop, STEAG India is looking to strengthen its position in the energy services market by expanding its O&M capabilities and delivering technology-driven solutions for both conventional and renewable energy assets.
As CEO, BhanuPrakash will oversee the company’s efforts to improve project execution and expand its operations and maintenance business. His responsibilities will also include enhancing asset performance and developing solutions focused on operational efficiency, digital transformation and the broader energy transition.
The company said that BhanuPrakash will also lead its engagement with utilities, industrial customers and power producers in India as well as international markets. His leadership is expected to support STEAG India’s efforts to deepen customer relationships and develop solutions aligned with the changing requirements of the power and energy industry.
STEAG Energy Services has operations spanning engineering, consulting, operations and maintenance, and energy-related services. The company works with power producers and industrial customers to support the performance and lifecycle management of energy assets.
With the energy landscape shifting towards cleaner generation and more flexible power systems, the role of specialised energy service providers is becoming increasingly important. Renewable energy projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid power plants require advanced asset management, digital monitoring and optimisation capabilities to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
STEAG India’s focus on engineering and digital capabilities could enable the company to support customers as they navigate these changes. The integration of digital technologies with energy asset management is also emerging as a key area for improving plant availability, predictive maintenance and overall operational efficiency.
BhanuPrakash’s appointment is therefore expected to further align the company’s business strategy with the evolving needs of the energy sector. His mandate will include strengthening project execution, scaling the O&M portfolio and advancing solutions that contribute to efficiency and digitalisation across energy assets.
The company’s continued focus on both conventional and renewable energy infrastructure reflects the changing dynamics of the global power industry, where traditional generation assets are increasingly operating alongside renewable power and energy storage technologies.
As STEAG Energy Services India looks to expand its presence in domestic and international markets, the new leadership is expected to play a key role in strengthening its service offerings, building customer partnerships and supporting the transition towards a more efficient and sustainable energy ecosystem.
