RenewableUK has announced the appointment of Tara Singh as its next Chief Executive Officer. Singh is set to officially assume the role on 23 February 2026, leading the UK’s foremost renewable energy trade association. Her appointment marks a key leadership transition as the organisation continues to champion the country’s clean energy sector and drive economic growth through renewable infrastructure.
Extensive Experience Across Energy and Government
Tara Singh brings over 20 years of experience spanning government, global energy companies, and public affairs. She currently heads a major public affairs practice at Burson, advising renewable energy and infrastructure organisations. Her previous roles include senior positions at Shell Renewable and Energy Solutions, and serving as Energy and Environment Adviser to the UK Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street.
Vision and Priorities for the UK Clean Energy Sector
Commenting on her appointment, Singh said she is proud to represent the UK’s clean energy industry, which generates half of the nation’s electricity, supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and has delivered consumer savings exceeding £100 billion since 2010. She outlined her priorities, which include strengthening collaboration between government and industry, driving sector growth, enhancing energy security, reducing consumer bills, and attracting investment across the United Kingdom.
Collaboration with Deputy CEO
Singh will work closely with Jane Cooper, RenewableUK’s Deputy CEO, who has led the association since February of the previous year. Cooper welcomed Singh’s appointment, highlighting her strategic expertise, extensive experience in public affairs, and ability to navigate complex government and media environments. Cooper noted that RenewableUK is entering the year with record levels of new clean energy capacity eligible for current generation auctions.
