Telangana Floats ₹1.60 Lakh Tender for Solar Fencing at Urban Health Centre

The Telangana government has invited bids for the installation of a solar fencing system at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Sundaraiah Nagar, Sircilla town, as part of efforts to strengthen security at public healthcare facilities.

The project has an estimated contract value of ₹1.60 lakh and is expected to be completed within one month. The tender includes the installation of solar fencing along with associated repair works at the health centre premises.

The work has been invited on a lump-sum basis through an open bidding process by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department.

Solar fencing systems use solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to generate electricity for an energiser, which delivers intermittent, non-lethal electric pulses through fencing wires. The technology can provide continuous perimeter protection while reducing dependence on conventional grid electricity.

The proposed installation at the UPHC is expected to strengthen the security of the healthcare facility by restricting unauthorised access and protecting the premises, equipment and other public assets.

The project also highlights the use of solar-powered security solutions in public infrastructure, where off-grid or low-power systems can offer an alternative to conventional electrically powered security installations.

The tender is open to contractors registered with the Government of Telangana holding Class-V Civil Contractor registration or above. Applicants must not have been blacklisted or debarred by any government department.

Eligible bidders are required to submit documents including contractor registration certificates, GST registration, PAN, latest Income Tax returns and an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹4,011.

The bid submission deadline is July 24, 2026, with the financial bids scheduled to be opened on the same day by the Commissioner, Sircilla Municipality.

The project represents a small-scale deployment of solar-powered infrastructure but reflects the growing use of solar energy-based systems for applications beyond electricity generation, including security and public infrastructure.
