Wärtsilä, Schneider Electric and Stanley Consultants Join Forces for U.S. Data Centers

Wärtsilä, Schneider Electric and Stanley Consultants have developed a “Generator-to-Chip” approach to help U.S. data center developers and operators bring scalable power capacity online faster. The approach is designed around AI-driven power requirements and brings together onsite power generation, electrical infrastructure, automation, engineering and project execution from the early stages.

By coordinating the entire power pathway from generation and distribution to digital monitoring and IT loads, the approach aims to reduce handoffs, improve coordination and provide greater certainty during project execution. It can also help shorten project timelines compared with traditional sequential delivery models.

Driven by accelerating investment in AI, demand for new data center capacity is growing rapidly across the United States. At the same time, lengthy grid interconnection timelines and delays in critical power infrastructure are slowing projects and increasing the need for coordinated solutions that can deliver dependable power where and when it is needed.

Wärtsilä provides flexible, modular engine power plants that can deliver reliable onsite power generation, start rapidly and scale as data center demand grows. Schneider Electric contributes the integrated electrical architecture, automation and digital power management that coordinate power from generation to the AI load. Stanley Consultants provides technical and advisory services across the data center lifecycle, including engineering, permitting, design coordination, construction management, commissioning oversight and climate resilience expertise.

“For many data center projects, power has become the schedule. Developers need reliable solutions that can be planned, built and delivered at the pace that AI growth demands. This innovative, integrated approach marks a significant step forward: by bringing our complementary capabilities together from the outset, we can simplify execution, reduce handoffs and shorten timelines. Most importantly, it gives customers a faster, clearer path from project planning to operational capacity,” says Risto Paldanius, Vice President, Americas, Wärtsilä Energy.

“AI growth is increasing the scale and speed required of data center power infrastructure,” says Melton Chang, Executive Vice President, Power Systems at Schneider Electric. “An AI Energy Park starts with the load and coordinates generation, electrical infrastructure, automation and digital technologies as one system. This gives developers a scalable, grid-flexible path to bring high-density AI capacity online faster.”

“We are delighted to be part of a team that is focused on meeting our client’s business outcomes and community needs,” says Lance Sulzen, Vice President and Energy Market Leader at Stanley Consultants. “Integrated solutions help deliver functional, resilient, and scalable facilities effectively and efficiently. Taking a collaborative delivery approach helps us better identify risks, streamline interfaces and improve delivery confidence from concept to commissioning.”

Wärtsilä, Schneider Electric and Stanley Consultants collectively bring expertise in power generation, electrical distribution, digital control and project execution that is relevant to modern data center development. Together, these capabilities demonstrate how data center operators can address requirements for speed, reliability, scalability and operational flexibility across grid-connected, islanded and hybrid configurations.
