Promoting electric vehicles in the city, the Delhi government has revealed its plan to soon launch a pilot project to install 150 kerbside EV chargers on city roads.

EV Chargers The government has set a target of increasing the number of EV chargers to 5,000 in the next three years.

The pilot project was the brainchild of the Delhi government’s think tank Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC). The think tank plans to install these EV chargers on 60 PWD roadsides in the city.

A statement issued after the review meeting said, “The pilot project, being designed by DDC in collaboration with power distribution companies and PWD, aims to install more than 5,000 kerbside EV chargers on all major roads of Delhi in the next three years. To do.”

The Delhi government has seen a steady increase in the number of two and four-wheeler electric vehicles in the city.

So, it became more important for the government to find a viable solution for EV charging.

Kerbside EV chargers are emerging as a leading solution for charging points for electric vehicles around the world.

With the help of these curbside EVs, owners will be able to charge their EVs while parked on roadside curbs. They can use street light lamp posts or dedicated charging posts to do this.

DDC vice-chairman Jasmin Shah commented that with the adoption of this technology in Delhi, the capital city is looking for other places to use innovative solutions to provide 24×7 public access for EV charging on all major roads. Will set a national example.

Recently, the Delhi government achieved the target of setting up 1,000 electric vehicle charging points under its single-window facility.

Under this facility, EV charging points have been installed at various locations keeping in mind their utility.

These charging points were set up in areas like office premises, e-rickshaw parking areas, residential areas, etc. the government also spent 60 lakhs as a subsidy for setting up these charging points.
